If  you want to visit the Perito Moreno Glacier, you have to go to the city of El Calafate, which is the closest to Los Glaciares National Park. Many tourist choose to combine a visit to both places The glacier and El Chalten ( I chose to do that)

I traveled by plane to El Calafate and from the airport I went to the terminal and took a bus to go directly to El Chaltén. This trip can also be done in a van from the airport to the El Chaltén Hotel, it saves time and there is not much difference in the price.

El Chaltén is a magical town, full of mystical  energy that connects you with nature and breathtaking landscapes.

 There is no doubt that the place I recommend to stay is Nunataks. It is on the main avenue where the bars are (craft beer is an option in these bars) strategically located since the hotel is quite close to the National Park’s trails. It also offers an incredibly delicious homemade breakfast.

 The walks that you do will depend on how long you stay there. It is recommended not to spend just a day in this beautiful place

They offer visitors one-day tours in El Calafate, and the truth is that you cannot appreciate and enjoy its beauty in such a short time. I recommend you to start with short walks such as El Salto del Chorrillo which is a 30-minutes-walk from the hotel or El Mirador Los Condores which will be about the same time.

There are hikes with a greater degree of difficulty but they are really worth it, such as Capri lagoon, it has an impressive view especially at sunset.

El Pilar Inn is about 15 km away, which is the starting point for some of the best trails.It is here where the trekking begins that takes you to the viewpoint of Piedras Blancas ( white stones), then we pass through the Poincenot camp, where you can choose to go to the Capri Lagoon or continue towards the town through the path  Lagunas de Madre e Hija (The Mother and Daughter Lagoons) and there you will find the path that goes to Laguna Torre ( the Torre lagoon).

You can arrive at the El Pilar Inn by remis or van (which you have to make the reserve two days in advance) and from there explore, climb or go hiking  the Fitz Roy which is a long walk and with considerable difficulty, especially the last part of it and on the way back you will be close to the Capri Lagoon.

Another hike that I really liked very much and recommend is Laguna Torre, this activity takes a whole day. I dedicated a day to go to the Huemul Glacier, which is in the Desert Lake Region. It is

37km from El Chalten. From the Punta Sur dock by taking a boat you can navigate for almost an hour to the Vespignani Natural Reserve, there are several trails with different degrees of difficulty.

On my way back, I did the trekking to the Huemul Glacier, after about an- hour walking I arrived at the Huemul Lagoon with its beautiful turquoise glacier.

You can’t miss the Patagonian lamb in this area. For a good reason people call it the capital of trekking to El Chalten, there are countless trails to travel and each one with an incomparable beauty.

After a week I went to El Calafate, I recommend spending three days there and not more than that. I chose to go there after El Chalten so I was able to rest after long walks.

Ice trekking is one of the best experiences I have ever had.The Tour is 100% recommended by locals. The second option is to navigate but it is an experience without so much adrenaline.

 I hired with my friends a one-day tour to Torres del Paine, it is quite exhausting due to the great distance that is covered, but the landscapes and views are priceless.

 I recommend these two places to stay: América del Sur Hostel, where you will have an incomparable view of the sunset and at night you will enjoy live music and very good shows.

The other place that is more central is El Calafate hostel, you can choose private rooms (very comfortable and with tv) This place is 300 meters from the center and the breakfast is remarkably big and complete. I stayed in both Hostels.
